The Lawn Business
Profit Leak Audit

Score the six places where a lawn company usually loses time or money. Pick one fix. Install it this week.

The rule

Do not fix the part of the business that feels most annoying. Fix the repeated problem that costs the most time, margin, or booked work.

Use real numbers from three normal jobs.

One unusually easy or difficult property can distort the result. Three jobs are enough to expose a pattern without turning this into accounting homework.

Score the business

Give each statement one point when it is true. The lowest section is the first place to investigate.

Pick one. Leave the others alone for seven days.

The point of the audit is focus. One installed fix is worth more than six half-built systems.

Seven-day fix

  1. Day 1: run the audit using the last three normal jobs.
  2. Day 2: collect the missing number, photo, message, or route detail.
  3. Day 3: choose the lowest section and one tool.
  4. Day 4: install the tool on one account, lead, or route.
  5. Day 5: use it during real work.
  6. Day 6: compare the result with the old way.
  7. Day 7: keep, revise, or remove the change.

Worked example

This fictional example explains the method. It is not a Maine Lawn performance claim.

Visit price$60
On-property time45 minutes
Allocated route time15 minutes
Entered labor and variable costs$35
Entered overhead allocation$7
Estimated contribution after entered costs$18

The first move is not automatically a price increase. The operator should compare four options: add a nearby account, move the stop to a better day, reprice the account, or remove it from the route.
